Hi!
Nice to meet you and happy you landed on this page :)
I’m a freelancer, so I wear a few hats that I switch around. I’ll try to be brief and make some sense of it.
I’m a fashion designer, seamstress, product developer, consultant and sewing, pattern cutting, upcycling, repair and macramé. teacher based in Amsterdam.
I've always been quite preoccupied by textile waste and, most importantly, waste colonialism. Blame it on my OCD, I just like when things find a home. And after working across different areas of the fashion industry, the scale of the problem just became more blatant.
ERMAPA started out of a very practical frustration: there are so many initiatives, services, and tools out there to help extend the life of clothing, but the information is very scattered and hard to navigate, especially beyond one city or country.
I wanted one place where this knowledge could come together and be easily shared and understood.
And I love a good list.
As you’ve hopefully gathered from browsing the site, ERMAPA is a collaborative, open-source platform that maps services, initiatives, and knowledge around second-hand, care, repair, donation, swap, resale or disposal of clothing and textiles worldwide. It’s community-driven by design, because tackling textile waste only works if we connect the dots together.
